Kolejorz - terribly effective opponent

2010-05-06 16:23:47
Lech Poznań, popularly known as KOLEJORZ (name referred to a person working on rail), ran over our team like a high speed train, closing the Sunday's match with a 3:0 result on their part.

It was obvious that Poznań team would give all their best to win against Śląsk Wrocław and thus get just one point behind the leader of Ekstraklasa ranking - Wisła Kraków - who had lost a day earlier in a home game against Korona Kielce. Lech seized the opportunity and now the question of WHO is going to be this year's football champion in Poland remains wide open.

As for the match itself, it can be honestly said that Śląsk Wrocław was highly motivated NOT to lose, even win against Kolejorz team. At first, the game was dominated by our players who had a few clear and dangerous situations, however, couldn't get pass the opponent's goalkeeper. Lech woke up in the 20' minute and started fighting for a chance to attack our gate. They managed to execute a free kick in 22', which, after Lewandowski's header, turned into the match's first goal. Despite the result, Śląsk didn't seem to break down and played good and offensive football until the brake.

It was the afterwards that brought us offshore when Dimitrij Injać executed a powerful and undefendable kick in 47' straight into Śląsk's net. That strike, just after the match's new opening, was a little too much for us, and a big boost for Lech Poznań who began to play more confident and bravely. Certainly, it had to end up with an even higher score for Kolejarz, which happened in 58' after another fast action and well-aimed strike of Lewandowski.

The positive outcome of that match was having ensured the audience in Wrocław an excellent sporting event, filled with drama and growing suspence. Next week, Śląsk is playing away against Piast Gliwice, a team in danger to fall out of Extraklasa competitions. Every point from now on is precious for both clubs. However, we're hoping to bring more than one from Upper Silesia, after the up-coming encounter.
