Paixao Pushes Local Rivals Into Relegation Zone

Śląsk Wrocław defeated Zagłębie Lubin in a crunch relegation derby match at Stadion Wrocław yesterday, a result which could be pivotal in sending their arch rivals into the Polish 1st division.
In a hard fought, tactical match bereft of clear opportunities, it was once again the prowess off Marco Paixao that was enough to see WKS take all three points. In the dying minutes of the match, Śląsk's top scorer escaped his marker and superbly directed Sebastian Mila's corner to the left of the goalkeeper.
The 88th minute goal sealed a crucial 3 points for Śląsk, who could have fallen into the relegation zone had they lost. Instead it is Lubin who now look perilously close to going down.
Nevertheless, with the Ekstraklasa going ahead with their novel plan to remove 50% of everybody's points after the league split into 2 parts, nobody is safe. That means WKS still have everything to play for when they take on Piast Gliwice next Saturday.
