Śląsk Wrocław won with Flota Świnoujście 3:2 in the quarter-final of the Polish Cup

2013-02-28 16:32:45
It was one of the most dramatic envounters our football fans could expeirence at Stadium Wrocław. It all started already in the first minutes, when our goalkeeper, Rafał Gikiewicz, was booked with a red card and Bartłomiej Niedziela used the penalty kick to make his team lead 1:0.

After Rafał was out of the field, WKS players had to continue in 10. Nevertheless, they managed to forget that they're in minority and Krzysztof Ostrowski made the score even in 23. min. The ball passed furiously on the right side of the goalpost. Flota was fighting hard, and didn't let us lead for long. The first half ended with a promising result for them 1:2, after Bodziony's goal.

After halftime, the public went through a Deja Vu as they saw another red card at the beginning of the the match's half, but this time it was for Flota's player. This way, the situation on the field became more balanced. Thus, Śląsk scored the second goal quite quickly, and so the result was still wide open.

When everybody thought that the match will end with a draw, Piotr Ćwielong scored after a corner kick just before the last whistle. The reverse match will take place in Świnoujście on 13th March. Hope you'll enjoy our game there!
