Ten Men Śląsk Held By Korona

In a match dominated by poor refereeing decisions, the brave ten men of WKS came within a whisker of taking all three points against Korona Kielce on Sunday.
The first half saw Śląsk hit hard by two refereeing blunders, starting with Holota's disallowed goal in the 36th minute. The goal was chopped off for offside, despite Holota clearly being level with the last defender as the ball fell into his path.
The next poor decision came in the 41st minute, when the referee sent off Adam Kokoszka for a second bookable offense. The central defender was adjudged to have pulled down his opponent, but tv replays prove that Kokoszka was victim to a blatant display of simulation.
Luckily for Śląsk, justice was done when Paul Golański's penalty slammed off the inside of the post and went out for a goal kick, keeping the sides level at 0-0.
In the second half however, a crucial decision went in WKS' favour when a penalty was correctly awarded for a foul on Paixao in the 58th minute. Śląsk's top scorer then stood up to take the spot kick, and he made no mistake to put his depleted team 1-0 up.
With an extra man on the park however, Korona remained dangerous and were throwing men forward to grab an equaliser. Despite the odd hair raising moment though, the WKS defence appeared resilient and they looked like holding out for a hard fought win.
It just wasn't to be though, as Śląsk were denied a hard fought victory in agonizing fashion when Sylwestrzak's shot rebounded off both posts and sneaked over the line the last minute of normal time.
